Karen was born in Greenwood, Mississippi and raised in Jackson. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism, emphasis in Photojournalism, from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg.
As a photographer, some of Karen’s highlights include her work for Mississippi Public Broadcasting, serving as personal photographer for Vice President Al Gore during his appearances in Jackson, and her work with the Environmental Protection Agency on a Superfund site in Columbia, Mississippi. Karen was selected as one of the Mississippi Museum of Art’s Mississippi Invitational artists for 2021 and that work is currently hanging in the Museum.
